A third-generation leader at her family’s insurance agency, Chrissy Myers was brimming with confidence—until her husband’s sudden death, just as the Affordable Care Act was going live, put her in a tailspin.
Chrissy discovered how the skills of resilience are essential tools for good businesses, healthy homes, and flourishing communities. Today, with Chrissy as owner and CEO, Associated Underwriters Insurance (AUI) is more than an insurance agency. It’s a company with a big “what else,” a mission that elevates the business, its associates, and its community in profound ways.
Chrissy Myers, MBA
Chrissy is the CEO of AUI and Clarity HR, which serve small and medium-sized businesses in for-profit and nonprofit sectors in the areas of HR and employee benefits. She describes herself as the chief cheerleader, setting direction, steering marketing content, and finding creative ways to disrupt two established business sectors. Chrissy is also the founder of AUI Gives Back and Clarity Cares, two community impact programs where employees serve in the community, track their impact, and share what they are doing on behalf of their customers.
Around Akron, Ohio, Chrissy works to leave her community a better place. She is a graduate of Torchbearers, Leadership Akron, Leadership Ohio, Scalerator NEO, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses, and Community Leadership Institutes. She has received the 30 for the Future Award from the Greater Akron Chamber and an Achievement on Excellence Award from National Sales and Marketing Executives.
As an advocate for families struggling with addiction and mental health issues, Chrissy currently serves on the Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board of Summit County. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Greater Akron Chamber, Goodwill Industries of Northeast Ohio, and Jobs for Ohio Graduates. Previously, Chrissy served on the board or committees for Red Oak Behavioral Health, Community Partnership of Summit County, Goodwill Industries, and Social Venture Partners.
Chrissy received an MBA from the University of Akron and a bachelor of arts in business administration from John Carroll University. When she is not plotting world domination of the HR and employee benefits industry or volunteering in the community, Chrissy can be found at home with Team Awesome Sauce, her husband Steve, two kiddos, Maddy and Caleb; and two doggos, Ziva and Rocco, the AUI and Clarity HR mascots.
